I’ve just pushed version 0.8 of the Syndicate Out plugin to the WordPress plugin repository. This version’s major claim to fame is the switch from the Moveable Type API calls to the native WordPress API calls, although it addresses a few other issues too.
Hopefully this shift from the MT calls to the WP calls will be a good foundation for the plugin going forward — it should allow me to much more easily introduce the new functionality which people have been asking for, including syndication of media (including featured images) as well as opening up the possibility to greatly enhance functionality by having a receiving side plugin which extends the receiving blog.
On Friday I released version 0.7 of the Syndicate Out plugin to the WordPress plugin repository. This is a pretty minor update to cover testing up to and including WordPress 3.5 and to give the settings pages an overhaul in preparation for the next round of development which will see some major changes to the API interaction functionality, requiring changes to the settings system. I’ll post with some additional information regarding the roadmap shortly.
As it’s been a few years since the last release of this plugin I’m hoping I’ve covered all the bases and this update will be painless. Let me know below if you encounter any problems. The plugin can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin directory. The following has been changed in this version: [read more]
I’ve just made public the release of version 0.6 of the Syndicate Out WordPress plugin. The latest version can be downloaded from the plugin repository.
This release adds a couple of the outstanding things on the long-term roadmap (custom field syndication, making the plugin clear up after itself when uninstalled via the WordPress uninstall system), as well as bringing with it a slew of bug fixes. The full changelist follows:
The following is a basic todo list / wishlist for release 0.6. I’ll add to this as things crop up, and cross things off this as I implement them in my development version. It’s possible some things listed here will end up being released prior to 0.6 if there’s the need for a futher 0.5.x release.
I’m pleased to announce the immediate availability of Syndicate Out 0.5.1. Due to a bug in the settings page it is not advised that users upgrade to version 0.5, 0.5.1 addresses this bug!
0.5 / 0.5.1 introduces a major new feature as well as addressing a number of bugs highlighted by users:
Syndicate Out 0.4 is now available to download from the WordPress plugin directory. If installing this version as an upgrade some changes to the way the plugin settings are handled should automatically be made. If you find that your settings seem to have disapeared try de-activating and re-activating the plugin. This should upgrade the storage format.
This release takes the plugin one step closer to a full version release with the addition of three major features, two of which are the result of user feedback, and the other was always on the cards (although this was requested too!):
Syndicate Out 0.3.2 is now available for download from the WordPress plugin directory.
This version addresses two bugs brought up by users (thanks go to randy, Adam, and Paul Bain) regarding the admin panel (sometimes) not apearing in the settings menu, and a broken include in the 0.3.1 release. It’s also been tested against WP version 2.8.3.
The plugin file name has changed with this version, so users might find the plugin gets de-activated by WP’s plugin manager when it’s updated. You simply need to re-activate the plugin to get it up running again.
As always, thanks for everyone’s feedback and support and please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you find any issues or have any suggestions on this release.
I have just released version 0.3.1 of the Syndicate Out WordPress plugin.
This minor revision fixes a bug encountered when editing the source blog entry — no longer will the same (effecivly a duplicate, albeit with the edits) entry be posted on the remote blog. As this is a bugfix release it’s only got a minor revision number change, although I strongly advise all users to upgrade to this version as it’ll save you a whole load of headaches in the future!
Hot on the heels of the first public release of Syndicate Out (0.2), version 0.3 is now available for download.
This release deals with a bug including the IXR library file, as well as adding keyword handling — they are now passed on to the remote server (as you’d kind of expect, really!). I’ve also added a step to the install instructions relating to switching on XML-RPC posting on the remote blog.
You can download the latest release from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
Here at Fubra we run a number of blogs — some personal, some corporate, some based on a specific site — the majority of which we’re in the process of migrating over to blogs.fubra.com. In addition to this quite a few of our staff members maintain their own external blogs. It’s fair to say that Fubra loves blogs.
With all this going on it can sometimes become a bit of a nightmare keeping tabs on what’s been posted where, not to mention managing posts which could quite legitimatly be posted across a number of our blogs. To help us ease this process we’ve deloped a simple WordPress plug in which syndicates the contents of our individual blogs into whatever other blog we want using WordPress’ built in XMLRPC functionality. This plugin is called ‘Syndicate Out’.
The plugin will soon be available to download via the WordPress Plugin Directory, and I’ll keep this blog updated with the latest developments.
